Spelling is genuinely phonetic, so what you read is what you say; the grammar is regular in a way that rewards patience; and the agglutination that looks frightening at first is a system you can actually see working on the page. English fluency varies widely, so many exchanges here end up bilingual — half a letter each way, both people correcting. Say plainly what level you are at; nobody minds, and it makes the first month easier.
