Practise German with a pen pal
The exchange that works here is a straight trade. Write a section in German, ask for it back corrected, and correct your partner's English — or whichever language they are after — to the same standard. German members will generally correct you thoroughly if you ask, and directness in a correction is meant as helpfulness, not criticism.
Focus your requests. "Correct everything" produces a wall of marks that teaches nothing; "please check my cases and my word order" produces something you can actually absorb. Cases first, then verb position, then adjective endings — roughly the order in which the errors stop being intelligible and start being merely wrong.
Vocabulary is where letter-writing quietly wins. German compounds mean that reading a native speaker's ordinary sentences about their ordinary week hands you words you would never have met in a textbook, in a context you will remember. Keep a list of the ones that made you laugh; they stick best.
The German-speaking world is bigger than Germany — Austria and Switzerland differ in vocabulary and, in the Swiss case, quite dramatically in the spoken language. Standard written German is shared, so a letter exchange works fine across all of them, but say if you are aiming at a particular country.
