A tradition from my country that surprises foreigners…
A tradition from Nepal that heavily surprises foreigners is Kukur Tihar (Day of the Dogs). Celebrated on the second day of the five-day Tihar (Deepawali) festival in October or November, locals bathe and adorn dogs with marigold garlands (Mala) and place a red vermilion mark (Tika) on their foreheads.
Three small things that make me happy…
Shared laughter: Sharing a spontaneous, heartfelt laugh with someone, where all differences melt away for a moment. A quiet act of grace: Witnessing or performing a small, unprompted act of kindness, like holding a door or picking up a dropped item for a stranger. The sound of nature: Pausing to listen to birds singing, rain falling, or leaves rustling, which reminds us of our connection to the living world.

Effectively, share a harmless but genuine belief that goes against the grain. The goal is to spark engaging conversation without causing offense. State your stance clearly, briefly explain your reasoning, and acknowledge the majority view to show you can handle differing perspectives.
